Video content is available everywhere for viewing on televisions, computers, tablets, smartphones, and even smart watches and glasses. The challenge of finding what to watch is two-sided. The viewer or consumer wants to find and view their preferred content quickly and easily. The businesses that provide the video (the content providers) want their content to be found and viewed. To meet these key objectives, a media presentation is played to an individual. The individual is monitored as she or he views the media presentation (the content) by capturing mental state data and facial data. Facial expressions such as eye furrows are captured using a webcam or other camera, and the expressions are analyzed in order to infer the mental state or states of the individual. The viewer’s mental states are correlated with those mental states of other viewers who have experienced the same media presentation. The media presentation is ranked relative to other presentations using the correlating. Based on the rankings, additional media presentations are recommended to the viewer.
