Overview

People love to play all kinds of games. As a result, computer gaming is enormously popular with young and old alike. The games that are played range from flying and driving to fantasy, exploration, and adventure. But games are best enjoyed when played with multiple players. As computer games have migrated online, the desire of gamers to play with other online gamers and to share their playing experiences with others through social media have greatly increased. While a player is involved in a game, mental state data, facial data, and physiological data are collected using a webcam. The collected data is analyzed using a web service to produce information related to mental state. Based on the results of analysis of the data, a player reaction threshold is used to modify the game being played. The modification includes changing the tasks that are presented to a given player. The tasks that are presented are based on whether analysis of the player’s reaction data places her or him above the reaction threshold or below the reaction threshold. An avatar is used to represent the player. The avatar is animated based on the player’s mental state data analysis.
