Affectiva is an MIT Media Lab spinoff focused on understanding human emotion. Our vision is that technology needs to sense, adapt and respond to nonverbal signals, not just commands. We are building emotional artificial intelligence (Emotion AI).
Our creative technology measures human emotion through sensing and analyzing facial expressions. Video production companies use this technology to determine how people react to their content. We provide these companies with insights to help them improve their content and target the demographics who are most impacted by the content.
Responsibilities:
- Improve Affectiva’s Market Research application
- Continue migration from the legacy Grails platform to the Rails replacement
- Write web frontend and backend code that supports multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and IE)
Requirements:
- 8+ years of meaningful work experience in software development
- 2+ years of in-depth experience using Ruby on Rails
- Shown competency in front ends that work on multiple browsers
- Strong competencies in data structures, algorithms and software design
- Extensive analytical skills
- Experience in writing unit and integration tests
- Experience supporting software running in a Linux environment
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Track record of success in a small, dynamic team
- Experience with performance benchmarking and optimization
- Experience with web development
Nice to have:
- AWS experience
- Python experience
- Familiarity with Machine Learning or Deep Learning
- Experience in the design and implementation of build/test/release infrastructure
- Experience video streaming
- Start- Up Experience
Qualifications:
- B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent
